Natural Cosmetics part 2

Bathing your cares away
My kids love to take baths and when I get the time so do I.  Sometimes we have to MAKE TIME to relax.  Why not relax, clean and heal your body at the same time?  Here are some tips and recipes to a wonderful bathing experience.
Essential oils added to your bath is just the beginning, try adding some fresh herbs.  Simply use a sock or a small cloth drawstring bag to hold the herbs in while you relax in the water.  The pouch can even be used to scrub your skin!  Great herb combinations include: mint, lavender, Pine needles, Rosemary, Ginger, Cloves, Yarrow.  And another super simple way to achieve all this is to simply add a couple herbal tea bags to you bath.

Honey - Add 1 tablespoon to you tub to soften your skin
Lemon - This is a great addition for oily skin, add one cup fresh lemon juice.
Milk - Add two or three cups milk or one cup instant dry milk.  Milk makes your skin so soft.
Salt - basically it is a water softener. 1/2 cup Epsom salt works the best.  Plain table salt will also help out, same measurement, 1/2 cup.
Vinegar - Add one cup to your bath water to soften and tone your skin.  If you don't like the smell of vinegar check out this link and make some great floral vinegar http://aranchwife.blogspot.com/2011/03/clean-with-vinegar.html

Natural Hair Care
Do you ever wonder what is in your shampoo? Try some of these do-it-yourself shampoos, some of these will sound crazy, but nobody will have to know what you did to get such great hair.
Protein shampoo - blend one egg and apply to hair.  Leave on for about 5 minutes then rinse in warm water.  Follow up with a natural conditioner.
Avocado - This is a great pre-shampoo treatment for restoring glossy hair. Massage mashed avocado into you scalp and hair.  Rinse out in 5 minutes.
Herb Tea rinse - Camomile for blonds, Rosemary or sage for brunettes.  Brew the tea regular strength and rinse it through your hair a couple of times.
Vinegar - Combine 2 tablespoons vinegar and 1 cup of  peppermint tea to a final rinse  This will liven up your hair and make it squeaky clean.

I love this book!
